SUPPORT RAISING

Support Raising: News

Support Raising might be a new concept for you and your student. However, since 2007, we have seen God provide millions (literally, millions) of dollars to Resonate staff members who raise support for their salaries and thousands of students who have participated in mission trips and summer projects.

We believe in this practice.

We have created an online training module that will help your student achieve their support raising goals.

If your student follows the practices and steps in the training module and is disciplined in their efforts toward support raising, they will reach their goal.

As their parent, you can encourage them to follow the step-by-step process of support raising and pray for them as they trust God to provide for them financially.

Below you will find some Frequently Asked Questions related to Support Raising.

Support Raising: About Us

WHAT IS SUPPORT RAISING?

The term “support raising” can have many connotations when you first see it. It implies that students will be asked to raise money to cover the costs of the trip. But when we use the term, we are referring to so much more than financial support. Students are “raising” prayer support, emotional support, and spiritual support alongside financial support.

WHY SUPPORT RAISE?

Support raising allows students to be sent by their families, friends, and churches. Asking for support (both prayer and financial) helps get people involved in the student’s experience. It gives the student encouragement along the way and gives affirmation from the body of Christ and it allows others to participate in God’s plan.

BIBLICAL FOUNDATION OF SUPPORT RAISING

OLD TESTAMENT FUNDRAISERS
Moses is one of the first fundraisers we see in Scripture (Exodus 35:4-5,21,29).
The Israelite Priests can also be considered fundraisers as they were to receive no monetary or material gain as other Israelites were entitled to. They were not to work outside the Temple to earn a living since their “job” was to serve in the Temple. Rather, they were to receive their “rightful dues” from portions of offerings given to God by God’s people (Num. 18:8,21,23,24).

NEW TESTAMENT FUNDRAISERS
Jesus gave specific directions to His disciples that forced them to depend on others for their needs. Yet, He made it clear that they were not to charge anyone for their services. In other words, with no fee system for services rendered, they relied on the hospitality of those they ministered to and among. In Matthew 10:8-10, He told His disciples, Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts; take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep.

OVERFUNDING

In the event that your child raises funds in excess of the amount needed for the cost of their project, they can be reimbursed for the cost of travel (flight or gas, pending submission of receipts and the balance remaining in the account). If there are remaining funds, those funds can be will go into the General Fund for their project (Elevate, Elevate 21, Project Summer or Elevate International).

Supporters are giving to the greater vision of Summer Projects through giving to your child’s specific account.
